Missing at War

UN reported that, as of September, 3, 28 children were killed and 58 children were injured in the eastern Ukraine.
Alarming statistics show that the number of children who went missing in the war is growing…
It´s just a few stories of missing chidren from NGO Magnolia, Center for Missing & Exploited Children in Ukraine (founded in 2001)

Lyuda Moyseyenko

15-year-old Lyuda Moyseyenko (Люда Мойсеєнко) disappeared at Donbas in August.

The girl is an orphan. She lives in Amvrosiivka (Амвросіївка) town of Donetsk region in an orphanage. However, due to the armed conflict, she moved to the children's camp “Смарагдове місто (Emerald City)” to a nearby city of Sviatohirsk (Святогірськ) in early summer. Although the camp was a safe haven for hundreds of orphans who, like Lyuda, forced to flee from war, the girl was very sad at the new location. Girls, her friends, said that she always recalled her only relative - an aunt-cousin who lives in Makiivka (Макіївка) city.

It looks like Lyuda decided to seek her aunt. Makiivka is occupied by alien forces. Sometimes battles take place right in the city. There is no water, light and communication.

There is a great danger that the child has suffered as a result of armed confrontations.

The reality, where the girl can live now, is streets where shots are heard and militants hang about. Therefore, literally, her life may be depended on our and you help.

Lyuda must be found as quickly as possible and get back to safety.

“We are making every effort to find this child,» - says Eugenia Tkachenko, Head of NGO Magnolia, Center for Missing & Exploited Children in Ukraine, «but the search for children in war zone requires a lot of additional resources.
Therfore, we kindly ask everybody to help us find missed children by transferring money to the account. We are grateful for any help.”

Stepan Chubenko

17-year-old Stepan Chubenko (Степан Чубенко) disappeared in Donetsk in late July. The teenager was just coming back by train from Kyiv, where he stayed with a friend, and went out to the platform as he was suddenly captured by terrorists. According to eyewitness the young man was taken by some people. These people carried him to an unknown direction. There is no connection with him since that time. What could have happened with the teenager is anyone's guess. Practice shows that young prisoners may be used by terrorists for different purposes: to dig trenches, to keep the watch at checkpoints, or to be a “living shield” for terrorists, which is the most dangerous.

Brothers Anton and Illya Peftiev

14-year-old twin brothers Anton and Illya Peftiev (Антон and Ілля Пефтієві) disappeared in Donetsk (Донецьк) in early June. When shelling started in Donetsk, they fled from there.

It is unknown where they went. They have not returned to their relatives who live in Starobeshevskiy district of Donetsk region.

Safety of the children is a matter of earnest troubles. Donetsk is currently occupied. Starobeshevskiy district, where children’s relatives live, is under terrorists’ control. In this chaos, the children can easily become victims of criminals and even loss their lives, come under fire that often takes place right in the city.

“We are making every effort to find this children,» - says Eugenia Tkachenko, Head of NGO Magnolia, Center for Missing & Exploited Children in Ukraine, «but the search for children in war zone requires a lot of additional resources.
Therfore, we kindly ask everybody to help us find missed children by transferring money to the account. We are grateful for any help.”
